Senior Paralegal – I manage the caseload of TN visas as well as the members of the team while also working on my cases.

What do you like doing outside of work?

Spending time with my family and setting and reaching personal goals.

Are you currently binge-watching any shows?

I am not

What is your favorite song and why?

Fix you by Coldplay because I believe the lyrics are a reflection of unconditional love.

What is one thing that not many people know about you?

I grew up in a small village in Mexico with about 200+ population

What motivates you to get up and come to work?

This job not only allows me to continue learning but also allows me to better myself as a person in so many ways, so I am always looking forward to my working days.

What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?

I learned that there are other forms of payment besides money such as happiness with what you do, pride, truly appreciative words, etc.

How do you prefer to build rapport with others?

Being an active listener and understanding their unique personalities has given me the chance to connect with each of them at different levels.

Is it more important to be a good listener or a good communicator?

It is essential always to be a good listener. In today’s society, I have noticed that everyone constantly needs to talk nonstop but they are not willing to be “the listener”. How do we fix that? Respecting others’ ideas and beliefs is a great start, even if they don’t match yours.

There are times when people need extra help. Give an example of when you were able to provide that support to a person with whom you worked.

When paralegals are out of the office, it is crucial to have a backup to ensure cases move forward in their absence. To avoid other paralegals getting overwhelmed with the out-of-office paralegal action items, I always offer my help to be that backup paralegal for the TN team.
